As a Senior Financial Analyst within the Corporate FP&A team, this role will support business leaders throughout Cambrex, partnering to provide applicable financial metrics, reporting, and analysis.  The primary responsibilities will include support of the budgeting and forecasting process, financial analysis and reporting, and system/process improvements required to support these processes.  This role will work directly with senior leadership at the site, business unit, and corporate levels, and across multiple functions.

 

DUTIES:

  1. Forecasting, budgeting, and reporting:
  • Assist with execution of the budget and forecast process including consolidation of site and BU level forecasts into enterprise level reports for executive consumption.
  • Analyze variances to forecast, budget, and external guidance in conjunction with site controllers and business unit finance leads.
  • Ensure consistent use of a standard forecasting/reporting template across all parts of the business.
  • Lead the transition from an annual budget and calendar-year based forecasting process to a rolling forecast across all business units.

 

  1. Financial analysis:
  • Perform site and business unit profitability analysis including an understanding of monthly spend rates/categories, capacity utilization, and product mix.
  • Work with corporate and local finance to build and maintain executive KPI scorecards.
  • Execute financial analysis in support of the strategic planning process, including evaluation of investment proposals, service line expansions, and other long-term business decisions.
  • Prepare and/or evaluate return on investment analyses for CapEx projects, both up-front and at pre-determined intervals after completion.
  • Prepare summary analysis of competitor financials: gross margin, R&D, SG&A, EBITDA margin, and net leverage. Evaluate competitor results as part of developing ongoing benchmarking standards.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis as necessary.

 

  1. Investor relations:
  • Support investor relations efforts as needed including quarterly earnings releases, investor presentations, and summaries of analyst reports.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent education and experience
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Finance, preferably Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact and collaborate with executive management across multiple functions
  • An action-oriented, positive, problem-solving approach
  • Experience with ERP systems including SAP, SalesForce and Hyperion preferred
