Avista Pharma Solutions is a contract testing, development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) encompassing over 200,000 square feet of laboratory and manufacturing space across the U.S. and U.K. (Agawam, MA – Durham, NC – Longmont, CO – Edinburgh, Scotland), providing pharmaceutical, animal health and medical device clients with a broad suite of scientifically-differentiated services.




The Laboratory Support Services (LSS) Technician provides support for laboratory functions specifically for (1) glassware maintenance, (2) auto-clave and (3) media preparation. This role also is responsible for daily cleanliness of laboratory. This role may perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned and cross trains to be able to back up other team members. The technician will become familiar with the workings of the LSS department, including operation of equipment, documentation requirements, and following standard operating procedures. All work is conducted per SOPs and GMP practices.  May provide basic training to other technicians after learning a skill set.


  • Washes glassware for laboratory departments.
  • Performs auto-claving activities.
  • Prepares and maintains the supply of a variety of sterile media and labware as required by laboratories.
  • May perform peer review to ensure accuracy of raw data and calculations.
  • Performs a variety of microbiological laboratory support activities as assigned.
  • Clearly and accurately documents all LSS activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness of laboratory and sample storage areas.
  • Performs routine LSS clean up and required equipment maintenance
  • Follows written procedures.
  • Perform basic math calculations.
  • Performs daily water sampling of purified water systems
  • Utilizes aseptic technique to aseptically prepare microbiology media
  • May provide basic training to other technicians after learning a skill set.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties in assigned and unassigned areas.




  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of experience in a regulated environment.
  • Basic understanding cGMP requirements for role
  • Understands the importance of following all company SOPs





  • Promotes a safe work environment. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and may be in clean room gowning for an extended period of time. Understands and follows safety procedures and works in a manner to avoid injury to self and co-workers. Willingness to work with highly toxic and controlled substances.
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment (FDA/DEO/OSHA) and strictly follow procedures.
  • Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing. Ability to read and comprehend detailed written instructions.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document al work activities in a timely manner utilizing existing forms and records. Writes legibly.
  • Perform basic math functions to include product accountability and material adjustment calculations and rounding. Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to move materials throughout facility using appropriate methods and equipment.
  • Operate machinery and read process control instruments to ensure proper operation. Identify operations problems when they occur.
  • Ability to clean rooms, equipment and tools for use in a cGMP environment.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting applications.
  • Provide basic training to other operators after learning a skill set.
  • Must have the ability to work overtime when required.
  • Must adhere to attendance policy of Avista. Expected to arrive for shift on time and contact management immediately if unable to attend work for any period of time.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
